Feingold Strikes Again

Once again Senator Russ Feingold is a clear voice in the wilderness. Today he issued a statement opposing a proposed ban on civil unions in his home state of Wisconsin. But instead of ending his statement there he went on to declare his support for "marriage equality" for all citizens.

“As I said at the Kenosha County listening session, gay and lesbian couples should be able to marry and have access to the same rights, privileges and benefits that straight couples currently enjoy,”

(snip)
“Denying people this basic American right is the kind of discrimination that has no place in our laws, especially in a progressive state like Wisconsin. The time has come to end this discrimination and the politics of divisiveness that has become part of this issue.”

"Marriage Equality" is the way we should frame this issue. It is an equal rights issue after all - and this country has already fought that battle.

In case you missed it here is the link to Feingold's appearance on Fox News on Sunday regarding his censure resolution.

I agree with everything he said, I admire him for the courage to state his convictions, and I hope I get the chance to vote for him for President, but I fear that he just made himself unelectable. I hope he proves me wrong.

  2. I think that by stating his beliefs firmly and with conviction he will be electable.

I think it is the wishy washyness of the Dems that get them in trouble. Russ has the intelligence to explain his reasoning in a clear and simple way.

Did you see the video of Russ on Fox news on Sunday. He was brilliant.

All Bush has is his stubborn misguided conviction and he got elected.

Oh yeah ....and some Deibold machines...... and the Supreme Court.

  3. I know for a fact none of you would choose for your children to be homosexual if it were a choice

What makes you think any of us would care, or would want to choose for our children, even if that were possible?

You should be more discriminating in what you think you know for a fact!

Frankly, I worry much more about oil pollution in the sea than about having a homosexual child.
