What Have We Learned?

I can’t help thinking about Stuart Baker – the guy listed as making $106,641 on this roster of White House staff members. You know – the White House Director for Lessons Learned.

[But not, I should note, the bushy-eyebrowed Stewart Abercrombie Baker, who had previously been reported on this site. Sorry Stew!]

American taxpayers are footing the bill for this guy, so shouldn’t he be required to file a complete report on exactly what lessons have been learned by the White House?

Frankly, I think he should be required to call a press conference to make an announcement each time a new lesson is learned!. For Example, he could say:

“I’ve gathered you all here to tell you that today we learned that lowering standards to meet military recruiting goals is likely to lead to undisciplined behavior that could result in the raping and killing of innocent civilians”

Or

“I’m pleased to inform you that today we learned that wives of congressmen who work for lobbyists create an unacceptable conflict of interest.”

Or

“Ladies and gentlemen, today we learned that Halliburton has been wasting billions of dollars of your money”

Or

“I’d like to announce that today we learned that our National Strategy for Victory in Iraq wasn’t worth the substantial amount of glossy paper it was printed on, and our bungled efforts appear to have actually started what some Republicans are calling World War III."

And so on.

If the White House Director for Lessons Learned isn’t even required to tell us about the actual lessons learned by The White House, then we might as well get rid of the position entirely and just give Baker the new title of White House Minister of Silly Walks!

At least that way, we would be able to see the fruits of his labor!

You've got the wrong guy. The picture you have listed is of Stewart Baker. He's the assistant secretary for policy at DHS. You're referring to Stuart Baker at the White House. There's been reporting that they are the same guy, but they're not.

What is the name of the real guy dealing with lessons learned at the White House and I'd like to see his photo? How did these two guys get mixed up? Stewart and Stuart. Stewart Baker is ass secretary of DHS, What does Stuart Baker do at the White House? This is not World War lll. We must not accept that concept.

  3. Thanks for the correction. Can't find a photo for Stuart. With a title like that, it's no wonder. He probably hides in his office all day in embarrasment!

giraffe - I'm not necessarily buying the WW III concept. I just want the scale of Bush's errors/lies to be given their full due, rather than be treated as an unfortunate mistake!

I know it's hard to keep up, but Mr. Baker will have a few more lessons to impart upon W's return from his excellent European Adventure:

    1) Always assume that the mic is on.

    2) Don't talk with your mouth full.

    3) Refrain from using the word "shit" when discussing issues of international significance with fellow world leaders.

    4) Do not give unsolicited shoulder rubs to female Heads of State (corollary to #1 above; always assume that the cameras are running).

Every day, George Bush embarasses us anew. Imp. Peach. Bush.

You give the Bush errors a thorough presentation. Thanks seenos. Your writing helps me know somebody is consistently paying close attention.
