"Unwarranted Domestic Spy Program" sounds much more inclusive than just warrantless. With warrantless, it gives the impression that it needs to be done in a hurry.
I would like to have definite information on in country spying so that we could know just how invasive this program has been to the average activist. Domestic Spying is a threat to us all who might differ with this administration.
Isn't it funny how the White House believes it has the right to secretly deal with everything, but the rest of us don't have the right to any privacy.
On second thought, I don't like the term "unwarranted" because the common definition is "unnecessary," which allows Bush to turn around and argue the program was "warranted" even though they didn't have warrants!
With the term "warrantless," they have to agree that they didn't have warrants (and therefore broke the law) before trying to defend the program.
Yeah, I don't know how much of a junkie you are on stuff like this, but www.pacifica.org, pacifica radio, is carrying the hearings live. So, if you go to one of their stations, lower left, you can get a webcast if you can't watch on Cspan or whatever.
I heard Senator Spector, who is in charge of the hearing imply, warrantless wiretapping is a post 9/11 indiscretion avoiding the word crime.
Remember how Bush's dad used to say "It wouldn't be prudent." Everythings prudent to this guy.
They will try to get him off on bad judgment I suspect if they can't prove he broke the law. That should be easy, he has alot of bad judgment and the American people are way too forgiving.
I keep thinking about that haystack and wondering when the last straw will be. Please let this be it.

How about "The Evil Plot to Conduct Unwarranted Domestic Spying?"
ReplyDeleteThat's EPCUDS for short.
ReplyDeleteAfter today's Washington Post article stating that basically all the spying revealed nothing - How about calling the program.
ReplyDeleteThe "Spying on Innocent American's Program"

ReplyDeleteMoveOn is going with "illegal domestic spying program".
ReplyDeleteI agree with seenos reasoning above that "unwarranted" just lets them argue that they are warranted to protect us from another 9/11.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll go with MoveOn's "illegal domestic spying program".
Thanks for your input everyone.
